Black Walnut

Many years ago I managed to snap a photo of this magnificent tree in my back yard - the leaves were gold, the sky was a beautiful blue - a perfect shot.  My father asked for the print, and I happily gave it to him.  Every year I try again to recapture that image, without success.  The leaves are never as deep a gold, the sky never that azure blue.  I treasure the memory that my father liked it so much that he asked for the copy, and kick myself for not getting another copy printed while I could still find the negatives.

  1. It is very beautiful. With todays scanners have you tried to scan a copy? Just a thought.

  3. I think this scene will be my holy grail - trying every year to capture what will only ever be better in my memory! The good thing is that this can only improve my photography. As for the original - the photo has been lost - I guess my dad passed it along to someone else.

  4. Much better without the bright blue sky. Lovely texturing.
